High risk pregnancy is a pregnancy in which the mother or the fetus may experience medical complications due to a newly developed or pre-existing disorder. This includes conditions or situations that could threaten the wellbeing of the mother or child such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, multiple pregnancy, placenta previa, miscarriage, symptoms of premature labor and other complications. Our high-risk obstetrics team offers a comprehensive program of services to protect both mother and fetus during pregnancy. The unit's staff is skilled in caring for physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients during this important time. Patients are encouraged to participate in their own health care decisions and to become better-informed consumers of health care.
